The Jay Grinder is a brand-new grinder from La Marzocco designed to make espresso easy. Everything about the Jay is built to streamline your workflow before, during, and after service. With fast, precision grinding and a small footprint, the Jay is perfect next to the Swan in busy coffee bars or as a standalone grinder in cafés, bakeries, and restaurants. Featuring the same industrial design as the rest of La Marzocco’s espresso equipment line, the Jay is perfectly at home next to any La Marzocco machine.
The Jay’s burr chamber is tilted at 45º, allowing coffee to exit more easily and reducing coffee retention. The grinder’s flat 68-millimeter burrs are also mounted to the burr carrier through the back, eliminating cutouts for screws on the grinding face and increasing the overall grinding surface by nearly 15%. Most importantly, however, is what truly sets the Jay apart from other espresso grinders: a magnetic burr carrier that can be removed in just seconds.

Easy to Set Up
Setting up the Jay takes just minutes. After unboxing the grinder, the magnetic burr carrier slots into place, and the hopper locks everything in tight with a quick quarter-turn. The grinder offers two pre-programmed timer buttons and a continuous grinding button, giving you flexibility on bar. The Jay is also compatible with the La Marzocco app and will eventually support grind-by-weight connectivity with the La Marzocco Connected Scale. All you need to do is open the app near the grinder and follow the on-screen instructions to add it to a Coffee Station.

Easy to Program
The Jay’s programming is intuitive and simple: just hold down the button you’d like to program, and up and down arrows will appear along with an “OK” button, guiding you through programming the time for each dose. The grinder can also switch the continuous button to single-dose mode, which triggers grinding by pressing the continuous button on the grinder’s face rather than the portafilter-activated switch.

Easy to Clean
With the magnetic burr carrier, the Jay is able to be cleaned in just a few minutes. Simply remove the auto-close hopper, pry off the magnetic burr carrier, and the inside of the grinding chamber is fully exposed and ready to be cleaned via a brush and vacuum cleaner. This makes it possible to deep-clean the Jay after every day of espresso service, ensuring it’s clean and ready to roll the next day.

Precision Grinding
The Jay uses 68-millimeter flat burrs with zero interruptions on its cutting surface. Because the burrs are mounted from behind to the burr carrier, the Jay’s burrs have nearly 15% more cutting surface than other burrs with holes cut out for mounting screws. The cutting pattern is designed in-house by La Marzocco to grind quickly while emphasizing sweetness and body. On average, the Jay grinds 18 grams of coffee in just 4-4.5 seconds, speeding up your workflow no matter where Jay fits into your bar.
